Writing Content for Other Blogs Builds Traffic

If you have been writing to your blog on a regular basis and are seeing some good results from doing so, you probably realize that adding regular content is something that can benefit you in a number of different ways. If you’re only using your own blog in order to generate traffic, however, you may be missing out on some of the greatest traffic generating techniques that are now available. The fact of the matter is, there are thousands of different blogs out there and many of them will be on the same subject as yours. How can you write content for another blog and end up getting traffic to your own website?

The first way that this is possible is my using it in order to optimize your blog for search engine listings. One thing that is important to do, especially if you are into SEO is to optimize your pages by writing about specific keywords but then to generate incoming links so that you can rise in the search engine results. One of the easiest ways for you to be able to do this is by generating other blog posts. Many people will open up a separate blog on blogger.com and post to it regularly while linking back to their own website. As long as you do this without being abusive with it, it can really help with your search engine listings.

It is also a good idea to comment on other blogs on a regular basis. Make sure that you add their blogs to your blog reader so that you know the moment that they post a new message. You can then go over and read the post and leave a meaningful comment. The reason why you would want to do this quickly is because it will put you at the top of the list which will generate a few more incoming clicks to your website from other people who read the blog post. It may also be able to help your search engine optimization to a certain extent, especially if they have the nofollow link disabled.

One other way that you can use other blogs to generate traffic for your own is by being a guest writer from time to time. Many people that own blogs don’t necessarily like to update their content because writing is not their favorite thing to do. If you have something to say that it’s on topic and can write fairly well, you would be surprised with how many people will allow you to add your own post to their blog. Of course, you would be adding a link back to your website as well which will generate a lot of traffic and additional search engine optimization for your pages.

Although it is a good idea to concentrate on your own blog, make sure that you’re spreading your wings at least a little bit when it comes to posting elsewhere. You will be surprised with how much this can help you and how many different ways it will pull traffic into your pages.

Using Squidoo to Get People to Your Website

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

How much time do you spend building incoming links to your website in an effort to get people to visit?  Although this is an extremely effective way to build up your website visitors, at times it helps to step away from your website for a little bit and work in another area. Although the main focus will still be your own website, using another website can be a very effective way to build traffic and to keep it coming on a regular basis.  The real key is finding someplace to build a website that already has everything in place that you will need in order to be successful in the shortest time possible.  One of the best places that this can happen is at Squidoo.com.

Squidoo is one of the most popular Web 2.0 websites that is in existence today.  Although there are some that are more popular, such as youtube or Myspace, Squidoo offers something that these other websites do not.  Let’s take a look at how to build a Squidoo lens and what you can do to make it successful, both on its own and for whatever website you are promoting.

The first thing that you’re going to need to do is to sign up for your own little corner on the Squidoo property.  Although it will be a single page website that you are building, they are called lenses whenever they exist on Squidoo.  Building the lens is a relatively easy thing to do because their system will walk you through every step of the process.  You just need to make sure that you choose the name of your lens wisely whenever you first get started.  This is because you’re unable to change it once you build the lens and submit it.  Use a keyword rich name and you will be surprised at how well it will rank in the search engines.

You need to make sure that you build your Squidoo lens in such a way as it will appear as if it is giving something back to the Squidoo community.  Of course, if you build it in this way then it will in fact give something of benefit.  There are different parts of your lens that you’re going to need to choose and you can put a variety of different information in these parts.  Make sure that you choose several because if you choose too few, your lens may be locked in all your hard work will go down the drain.

The real beauty of building a Squidoo lens is the fact that Squidoo already has favor in the eyes of Google.  If you build a lens around a long tail keyword, it will quickly rise to the top of the search engine result pages.  It is a way of piggybacking on the success of another website and is a very effective way in getting traffic over to your main website that will continue to come in for a very long time.

Getting Listed in Google Fast

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Anybody that has been Internet marketing for any time realizes that being listed in Google is a way to get some serious traffic to your website. As a matter of fact, it is estimated that Google may drive up to 50% of the traffic that searches on the Internet. The other 50% is spread among some of the other search engines, such as Yahoo or MSN. While it may help your business to be listed in the smaller search engines, having a good listing in Google can give you a fantastic boost. The problem can be getting listed in Google quickly, especially if your website is brand-new. If you seem to be sputtering as far as your ranking is concerned, here are some ways to get listed in Google fast and move up through the rankings with ease.

Don’t let anybody tell you any different, getting listed in Google is very easy to do. The only thing that you really need is a website and a few incoming links. As long as your website is navigable by the search engine, the incoming links will point the search engine bot to it. You can get these links from any number of places but the easiest ways to do it are through article marketing or submitting RSS feeds. Here is a little bit about each of those methods.

Article marketing is simply writing articles that have to do a little bit with what your website is about. You would post these on various article websites throughout the Internet and leave a link that points back to your website in the bio box. There really isn’t much more to it than that. Some of these article sites that add content on a regular basis are spidered on a regular basis as well. Whenever the search engine spiders see a new outgoing link, they will follow it and began taking in your site.

If you want an extremely easy way to get your website listed quickly, try submitting an RSS feed. You can do this by building a site map that is in the RSS format. There are plenty of free websites which will spider your pages and build this site map for you. All you need to do after that is to upload it to your server and then paying it through one of the free painting services. You will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly the search engine spiders begin to come take a look.

Of course, it may take a little while before your pages are actually indexed in Google but they will be looked at very quickly by using these methods. I’ve had pages that were listed within a day and other pages which took a week or more before they finally showed up. As long as you have a little bit of patience, however, you will see results from your efforts. Before long, your site will be listed and moving up through the rankings on its way to the top.

Benefiting from Viral Traffic

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Of all of the different forms of traffic that you can get on your website, viral traffic has the potential of sending you the most amount of people in the shortest period of time.  This traffic can come from a number of different locations and through a variety of methods but if it is truly viral in nature, you will be surprised at the explosion of traffic that comes to your website.  What exactly is viral traffic and how can you successfully set up a viral traffic campaign in order to send your hit counter spinning?

Viral traffic is basically just website visitors that come from a variety of viral marketing campaigns.  These can include anything from online videos to freely downloadable products.  The main thing that you need to remember about viral traffic, however, is that it needs to be something that people are willing to pass on to other individuals.  You can create the greatest product that is available but if it does not have a viral nature to it then it will do little more than attract some attention on the side.

Have you ever seen some of the videos that have attracted millions of viewers?  There are several things that these videos may have in common which include such things as comedy, controversy and creativity.  For the most part, however, many of these viral videos were not put up with the intent of attracting this much attention.  It happened naturally, as a result of those videos being passed on again and again and the traffic multiplying naturally.  The good news is, you can also create the same effect to a video that you make with the intent of producing this kind of traffic.  All you really need to do is to create controversy, comedy or creativity that will be enough to encourage others to pass on your work.

If you are on the verge of a viral marketing campaign but just can’t seem to get it rolling to the extent that you want, perhaps you’re not asking hard enough.  Many viral campaigns that were started naturally did so simply because people wanted to pass the information on.  Perhaps your video or other viral marketing techniques are interesting but they are just not quite interesting enough for people to pass them on naturally.  If you ask people to pass them on, however, enough people may take you up on your offer and you could start the ball rolling in that way.

As they say, all good things must eventually come to an end.  Your viral marketing campaign will typically have a lifespan and you may notice that the traffic you are receiving will eventually begin to die out to a certain extent.  If you continue to put up other campaigns in order to create a viral effect and subsequent traffic to your website, however, you can not only see the traffic coming on a regular basis, you may actually see it grow on a regular basis as well.
