How to Make Money Online with One of the Top 7 Trends in 2009

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

One of the top seven trends for 2009 that was reported* in “Entrepreneur Magazine,” opens doors for people round the globe with no experience necessary, no particular skill sets… nothing needed. Awesome or what?

Plus there is plenty of room in this trend for start up and growth opportunities across the board, from newbies to advanced, with very low overhead involved.

The niche?

Digital, with the Internet boasting countless opportunities in all types of niches from business and finance to health fields to electronics to self improvement and much more.

But on the average, what happens when people like you and I decide to make money online? They often run into pitfalls like this:

1) You know that you need a product or service to sell, either your stuff or someone else’s. So you dig in and learn about affiliate marketing to get you started, selling other people’s products.

2) But you need to learn the ropes: how to choose the right affiliate programs to get into, which products to sell, how to set up web pages to sell them, leads capture pages AKA squeeze pages, what autoresponders are and how to set them up for your leads capture, how to market the products and more.

3) All this so far adds up to countless hours of research, trial and error, not to mention non-functional web pages, not much traffic or leads, money, time and effort spent on products and services that simply don’t work for you, and other heartaches.

4) Results: you need to seek one of those low paying “jobs” again when you run out of money. (Plus you may have less hair if you’ve been pulling it out during these trials and tribulations!)

Well, forget all that. What you really need is a solid, proven system. With a system like the Marketing Operator you get automation that helps you. Your system takes you by the hand and:

A) Helps you build professional, top quality Squeeze Pages, OTO (one time offer)
Pages, Sales Pages and Upsell Pages. This means you save time creating these.

B) Tracks your marketing activities for you. Say “Good-Bye!” to blind tests, and say, “Hello!” to automation with hands-off testing of different traffic sources and / or different elements on your Squeeze Pages, OTO Pages, etc. You choose in clicks. It’s that simple. Why, you can even split test 2 OTO pages and see which one converts better with a certain squeeze page - - all in a couple clicks!

C) Handles your product delivery – complete with simple Paypal integration. That means adios to making your own Paypal buttons. They’re already made for you.

There’s so much more I could say about Marketing Operator, but I’ll let others tell how great the system is for their businesses. Click Here and find out more….and finally get your business off the ground.

To Your Success,

Pay Per Click Marketing Strategies

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Without the proper method of using Pay Per Click Advertising, you can spend a fortune and have nothing to show for it. Clickthroughs cost you, but you get nothing in return if your website visitors only click through and don’t buy anything.

How does it work? The major search engines offer bidding for the placement of your ad based on keywords. You bid on keywords that you want to place your ads on, related to your product. If you bid the highest, your ad goes first. When someone does a search for that keyword, your ad is available to them to click on. If they do, you are charged whatever you bid. For example, if you bid $.30 for a keyword to get top spot, and 100 people click on your ad in a day, you pay $30.00. Multiply that times 30 days and you can see how quickly your advertising budget gets expended. If it is a keyword that is very popular, and thousands of people click on your ad, it really costs you big.

But, you might ask, isn’t a lot of click throughs what you are looking for? Isn’t that a good thing? It depends. If those clickthroughs result in sales, yes, it is great. But, if sales don’t result for a good percentage of those clickthroughs, then it is not a good thing at all.

One of the disadvantages to pay per click marketing is that your cost per click remains the same, regardless of traffic. Your overall costs go up in proportion to your clicks. But, in the normal search engine optimization, as your traffic increases, your costs go down. You spend a particular amount of time and money to optimize your site, and increased traffic doesn’t raise your overall expenditure.

Is pay per click all bad? Not at all. It can profitably increase your search engine traffic, which increases your website traffic, if it is managed well. With some programs, such as Google Adwords, it can immediately increase your website traffic. If you are at the top of a popular keyword, you will get instant clickthroughs, and potentially, customers. Also, you can adjust your ad campaigns to match marketing trends a lot easier than you can rework your web content to draw search engine traffic.

What are some management tips? The most basic is to focus your efforts and to be well aware of what you are spending, your conversion rate, and your number of clickthroughs. Like any advertising method, you have to stay on top of what is going on or you can spend many wasted dollars in ineffective advertising.

When is pay per click a good idea? There are three major areas where pay per click advertising is beneficial.

Campaign and advertising testing issues. If you are introducing a new product, or if you want to test drive an advertising campaign, you can expect immediate traffic and can test ads by changing in mid-campaign and watching results.

Direct response sales – if you sell something that the customer can buy immediately, pay per click advertising may be beneficial. You know that each click through may be a sale.
When using a niche phrase – when a certain keyword might be expensive, a keyword phrase with that word combined with another one might be a real bargain and generate a lot of traffic.

Pay per click advertising is not the solution for everyone or every situation. But, managed well and used effectively, it can very efficiently drive website traffic and resulting sales.

Viral Marketing Examples

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Viral marketing, promotions that spread fast like with word-of-mouth advertising, are popular today among online marketers. It’s often an inexpensive way to get the word out, not to mention a fast, efficient way to get your info into targeted shoppers. Some popular viral marketing examples follow.
1) Free Video

Often a marketer will create a neat video that has someone using his or her new product. They load the video clip into popular video sites like YouTube, and as people watch it, they get excited, comment about it, and pass the link around to their friends. The video may offer a great way to make extra money, or show a funny blooper, even, anything to get people excited and passing it along to others.
2) Free Ebook

Similarly, a marketer may write an ebook or hire a ghostwriter to write one. The ebook may tell all about how to use a tool out there that’s popular; for example, it may tell how to make and share videos with your friends, using free video-making software and then loading the files into free video-sharing sites like YouTube.com.  This gets video viewers excited, so they pass the info, the video ebook, on to their friends, recommending it in the process: viral marketing.
3) Free Scripts, Software and Services
Other viral marketing examples may include free scripts, software and services that marketers share with website visitors, when these guests sign up at their squeeze page for a free subscription to a regularly newsletter or other item. The bait or call to action may say something like,

“Get your free autoresponder script or membership software script and save monthly fees using someone else’s services. Make money selling it yourself or selling your services and scripts, too! Sign up for more info and get your free scripts at the same time.”
As people complete the form and get their info, the info invites them to tell the word and invite others to sign up, too: viral marketing.

Can You Rely on Bum Marketing for Consistent Income?

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

If there is one thing that is always certain about the Internet, it’s that things are not really certain.  I’ve been around the Internet long enough to see things rise and fall and to recognize that nothing is ever going to remain the same.  I’ve had people accuse me of reinventing the Internet because I’ve been able to make money in so many different ways over the years that I have been online.  All through that time, however, there have been some constants that have never really changed.  One of these is article marketing and although it may go by the name of bum marketing now, it really is the same as the article marketing that has been going on for years.

For those of us that have been doing bum marketing for many years, we realized that the income has been very consistent up until this date.  There is always a possibility, however, that something could change in this regard and that your efforts would eventually go down the tubes.  What this causes in many of us is something that is typically called analysis paralysis.  We end up analyzing the possibilities so much that we do nothing as a result.  If you want a sure way to keep yourself from being successful, it is by not trying anything at all.  Even if you try and fail, at least you tried and you can begin trying something else after that happens.

That is why it is important to start with article marketing as soon as you learn that it is something which can make you some money.  Get as many articles as possible out there and begin seeing some return for your efforts.  If you are afraid that it is not going to work for the long term, that is perfectly fine.  The fact of the matter is, eventually it may change and although article marketing will always bring you good traffic, the face of it may be altered in some way or another.  Do what is working now and do it to the best of your ability.  Use your success and then spread your wings a little bit in order to go market in other areas.

One thing that is for certain, and that is that I would never rely on one particular area of the Internet in order to base my entire income on it.  Bum marketing can work great and you can easily replace your full time income if you work at it hard enough.  The fact of the matter is, however, that income can dry up rather quickly with a simple flip of a switch in Google.  It is not unreasonable for you to expect to make consistent income with article marketing but you should also make sure that you have other irons in the fire as well.  By having multiple streams of income heading your way, you can make sure that your success will stick around for the long term.

Affiliate Marketing – Don’t Reinvent the Wheel

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Affiliate marketing is both new and old. It is new in that it has a new delivery system – the internet. It is old in that it is similar to the past sales systems where sales reps sell a product that someone else owns, earning a commission for doing so. The difference in the two is significant. In contrast to sales representation, affiliate marketing means no inventory having to be carried, low-cost business, unlimited income potential, worldwide customer base, low risk due to no-cost or low-cost startup, and twenty-four hour business due to the nature of internet marketing. It is THE way to make money in sales. Affiliate marketing makes it easier than ever to make a good income with a minimum of time and money.

How do you profit from affiliate marketing? You invest a minimum of money and time in promoting someone else’s product on mail lists or websites. You have to find the right product and the right way to promote that product. Often, article marketing is the perfect way to promote the product, involving writing information filed articles about topics related to your product you wish to promote. For example, if you are promoting a dog training book, you might right articles about dog health, filled with useful information. The key to this is search engine optimization (SEO), meaning you discover the right keywords that will bring traffic to your site or article, but that is not so popular that you have to compete with thousands of competitors.

There is three ways you get paid in affiliate marketing. One is pay per click, where every time someone clicks on your affiliate link that is either in your article, in your email signature, or on your website, a certain, agreed-upon amount is added to your account. This compensation is usually very low, from a few cents to a dollar or so, because just clicking through is no guarantee that the person will purchase the product. Still, every click through is a potential customer, either immediately or at sometime in the future. Many affiliate programs record the customer identifying information so that if they come back and buy later, you get credit for the sale. Another method of compensation is pay per sale. This involves only getting paid if the customer actually buys the product. Usually the compensation is the most with this method, ranging from 10% to as much as 75%. Some affiliate programs just give a set compensation amount, but they usually fall within that percentage range. Another method of compensation is based on pay per lead. In this method, you get a small amount deposited every time someone registers at the merchant website after clicking on your affiliate link. Again, some programs also keep a record of this contact and pay a percentage if a sale is made.

What are some keys to success in affiliate marketing? They include all of the following:

* High quality content – Whatever you use to promote your affiliate product, whether articles, emails, or websites, you need to provide good quality content that is related to your product. This content needs to be updated periodically so your potential customers will come back repeatedly. This is especially important if you are promoting multiple products from the same merchant or the same or related products.

* A newsletter or email campaign – This is often done using an autoresponder which entails very little effort on your part past the initial setup. Just don’t forget to update if you are using an autoresponder so that your content is always current to marketing trends and news that benefits you. Use this method to present new information, make frequent contact with good relevant content, or to let the customer know when you update your website with new information.

* Networking – This involves joining email lists, blogs, or webrings. Any time you can take advantage of someone else’s traffic, you have to work less.

* Optimize your content – Optimizing content means knowing what are the popular keywords, but keywords that are not so competitive that you may never reach the first page of the search engines. Search engine optimization (SEO) just means making your content such that searches for certain keywords will mean your listing will be on the first page.

* Tracking results – You can’t know what is working or not working unless you have a method to track what is happening. Track ads, articles, website visits, ROI, click throughs, and any other information that will tell you what is working and what is not as effective.

To succeed at affiliate marketing, it is important to choose the right product, right merchant, and the right marketing method. Keep all the above affiliate marketing tips in mind and you will enjoy success in affiliate marketing and earn a very decent income with very little investment of time and money.

Affiliate Marketing - The Ultimate Testing Ground

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

One of the best ways for you to make a lot of money on the Internet is by offering your own product or service.  The reason why this is the case is because you control every aspect of your business.  You’re not relying on somebody else to take care of anything and all of the profit becomes yours.  Very few of us, however, come on to the Internet and begin marketing in such a way.  After all, most of us don’t have a ready-made product in order to begin making money in such a fashion.  If you want to start earning money now and would like to do so without the problems of coming up with a product, affiliate marketing can be your answer.

Not only is affiliate marketing profitable, it also gives you the ability to test your marketing skills without having to worry about a lot of the other headaches that are usually attached to a business.  Yes, owning your own business and product is more profitable but affiliate programs give you the ability to spread your marketing wings and learn how to fly.  All you will be responsible for is pushing people in the right direction in order to find what they are looking for.  Once you get them there, landing the sale and any future customer service that is necessary is none of your responsibility.  You are totally free to go back and refine your marketing efforts in order to make more money.

That is why a lot of the people that get involved with Internet marketing try to get involved in an area that they plan on sticking with for the long term.  If you’re interested in dog related products and would like to own your own web store eventually, why not try marketing some dog related products through affiliate programs?  There are a lot of benefits to doing so.

First of all, you are going to be active in the niche that you are really interested in.  If you do a little bit of forum marketing, you will already be making a name for yourself and it will be easy to switch over to your own product eventually.  The same is also true if you’re building a newsletter.  A newsletter can not only be profitable if you are offering your own product, affiliate programs can also be marketed through them as well.  Once you finally bring your product online, you can switch your newsletter over to it and receive immediate sales as a result.

Yes, affiliate marketing can be used as the ultimate testing tool in order to begin promoting your own product.  Some people find, however, that they are so successful with affiliate marketing that they really never stop.  They may put out their own product and begin marketing it regularly but they may always keep their foot in the affiliate marketing waters.  After all, it is always good to diversify to a certain extent and with affiliate marketing, you have that opportunity.

How Many Affiliate Programs do you Promote?

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

There is a lot of temptation on the Internet, especially when it comes to starting your own Internet business.  It doesn’t matter which direction you look, there is going to be another moneymaking opportunity that hits you in the face.  Although it certainly is possible for you to make a great living on the Internet, you need to make sure that you’re not being distracted by too many of these offers.  This is especially the case if you are working with affiliate marketing.  This is one of the easiest ways for a beginner to earn money on the Internet but unfortunately, it comes with some pitfalls that are not always spelled out from the start.

One of the worst things that you can do whatever you’re first starting out with affiliate marketing is to get involved with too many different products.  Although it never hurts to diversify to a certain extent, spreading yourself too thin will be counterproductive.  The Internet works differently than things work in the real world.  In a real world store, it is possible to offer a variety of different things and still be able to be profitable with the same audience.  On the Internet, however, people are looking for something specific and unless you have that specific something to offer them, you’re not going to make the sale.

This is what is known as niche marketing and it is a concept that you must absolutely understand before you get started.  You need to market to specific niches and whenever you’re first starting out, you need to limit the amount of niches that you are working in to something which is reasonable.  If you try to be everything to everyone, you are simply not going to be able to keep up with everything that needs to be done.  There is a lot to learn when it comes to affiliate marketing, although it is relatively simple if you keep it simple.  If you make it complicated by offering a lot of different products and services, you’re going to get discouraged and more than likely, quit.

There will come a time after you have tasted success with affiliate marketing in which you will be able to branch out into other areas.  It is important for you to make sure that you get your feet wet in one or two specific areas first.  This will teach you some of the basic principles that are necessary for you to understand in order to be successful in any area of affiliate marketing where you decide to settle in.  Most of the principles that can be used in one of these areas can easily be adapted to another.  Just make sure that you are successful with the first before you go for a second.

Eventually, there will come a time when ever you have your hand in many different affiliate marketing pots.  Until that time comes, make sure that you are focusing your efforts on one or two areas in order to find the success that you are desiring.
