22 Ways To Get More Signups For Your List

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

By now most internet marketers know that the money is in the list. What most people don’t know is how to get subscribers… they struggle with hundreds of subscribers while they should get thousands every month!

So I’ve decided to publish 22 ways to get more signups for your list. Enjoy!

1. Setup a pop-up to catch the signups on all your blogs and websites.

This is by far the easiest thing you can do and instantly get more signups to your list. Many autoresponders even provide a pre-made pop-up code.

2. Become a contributor at different Giveaway Events

As a contributor at giveaway events you can build a huge list in record time. I usually participate in at least 5 giveaway events each month and have added thousands of subscribers to my list this way.

3. Run your own giveaway event

Running your own giveaway event is probably the easiest and fastest way to build up a huge list. You need to have the ressources to run an event, that means you should be able to get JV Partners who help you to launch the event and you also need a good sofware like the Giveaway Manager 2.

4. Setup free membership sites

This is similar to running a giveaway event with the difference that it’s a lot more work because you have to create and setup all the content or downloads. A membership site should have something unique to offer to become successful, so this is a strategy for advanced marketers.

5. Design a high quality Squeeze Page

A squeeze page or actually several squeeze pages is a must have for every internet marketer. The better your offer is on this page and the better the page looks, the higher your signup rate will be.

6. Increase your signup rate by testing and tracking

You should test and track different elements on your squeeze page like the headline or different bullet points. This is called Split Testing and used wisely it can double or triple your signup rate.

7. Give away free software or ebooks to increase your signup ratio

I know that most marketers already do this but if you are very new to this, then you must understand that you need to offer people something for free before they give you their name and email address. Give away a free ebook or even software to get people on your list.

8. Add a privacy statement on your squeeze pages

Say something like “We respect your privacy and will never share, rent or sell your personal details”… Tell your visitors that their details are safe with you and that they won’t get any spam emails.

9. Do Ad-Swaps with other list owners

Once your list has reached a size of 1000 or more subscribers you should start to do ad-swaps. That means you do a cross promotion for your list with other list owners.

10. Ask your friends to add a link to your Squeeze Page on their sites

Come on, you must know several people who have a website or blog… ask them to add your squeeze page link on their sites.

11. Give away ebooks including a link to your squeeze page

You can create several short reports or ebooks that you distribute through other download sites for free. In these ebooks you have a link to your squeeze page. This is kind of a reverse marketing because you first give away a product for free and you hope to get the signups by doing this. It will only happen if your ebook or report is unique and offers something that is not told elsewhere.

12. Use the My Viral Spiral script

I’ve build a list of 1600 people, still increasing, only with the My Viral Spiral script. It’s one of my favourite 3 scripts for building up huge opt-in lists.

13. Setup Co-Registration exchanges with other list owners

How about adding each others opt-in form on our blogs? How about adding each others opt-in form on our Thank You Pages? Ask this other internet marketers and help each other to build your lists.

14. Advertise your Squeeze Page through free traffic programs

I’m talking about manual click exchanges here. While the signup rate might be as low as 0.3% they are still very viral and can lead to tons of signups. What means 0.3% if you get 100.000 visitors through these every month? It means getting 300 new leads each month on auto-pilot. This can be done by sponsoring other people into these click exchanges. You earn a percentage of their traffic!

15. Advertise your Squeeze Page through credit based safelists

Credit based safelists are great to get started with building your list. You’ll get signups fast and the useage of these is easy.

16. Add your autoresponder optin form to your Facebook Box on your profile

Yeah, this works… there is a Facebook Profile Add-On… a simple Box… you can enter HTML code there, so you can add your autoresponder signup form and it’s displayed directly on your profile.

17. Add your autoresponder optin form on all your blogs and social sites

I must confess that I haven’t done it everywhere yet but once I find the time I’ll add a signup form to my autoresponder on the sidebar of this blog as well as on my other blogs and websites. Maybe with a special offer or something… You should do the same thing, put your signup box everywhere!

18. Link to your Squeeze Page from your blogs

Simply enter it into your Blog Roll or even within your posts.

19. Add a link to your Squeeze Page in your article signatures

Article marketing is great and done the right way it can have a huge impact on your online business. When doing article marketing you should always use a Squeeze Page or your free membership site link in your signature.

20. Add a link to your Squeeze Page in your forum signatures

Same thing as with article marketing

21. Test a short video message or audio message on your Squeeze Page

Videos and Audios can have a huge impact on your visitors. These can add the personal touch to your site and therefore increase your signup rate. Test it, track it and see if your signup rate increases.

22. Provide good content in your emails that you send out to your list

Here are 2 reasons why you should give your readers top content with your emails: 1. You want to keep them on your list and 2. They might tell their friends and they might also signup for your list!

OK, I hope you implement all these strategies… used together I was able to build a list of 25.000 within my first 9 business months.

To your success!

Use Your Autoresponder Effectively

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Auto responders are one of the most effective ways to introduce yourself to potential new clients and to build a relationship with those on your newsletter. That is, of course, as long as you treat your autoresponder with respect. As with anything that is automated on the Internet, this can be manipulated in such a way that it will actually be abused. Sure, you may see some short-term results from treating your autoresponder in such a way but those results will be short lived.

It is important that you treat everyone that joins your newsletter with respect. The best way that you can do this is by not blasting out a marketing message to them moments after they sign up for your newsletter. Take the time to introduce yourself and to tell them a little bit about you and what you do on the Internet. It wouldn’t hurt if you mentioned your product and even gave a link to it but make sure that you’re not too in their face with it or else you like find yourself losing subscribers as soon as you gain them.

One decision that you’re going to have to make with your autoresponder is exactly how long you’re going to keep them within the autoresponder series. Some people keep them within that series indefinitely, constantly looping them from the back to the front. As long as you have enough messages in the series, people will not recognize that you are doing this. I have done this on several occasions and it is very rare that somebody will complain that they have already received a message. The few times that somebody did recognize it, they simply e-mail me and told me that I had already sent that message out. I e-mailed them back a thank you letter and that was the last I heard about it.

There may be times in which you want to take your autoresponder subscribers to the next level. After the series is done, you should continue to contact them at least on occasion. Just make sure that it is often enough that they do not forget who you are in between e-mails. Doing so can cause a lot of problems for you in the form of spam complaints and may even make it difficult for your messages to be delivered in the future. Be consistent with your mailings and you will have more of a chance of them getting through and being read.

One other thing that you may want to keep in mind is the fact that it is necessary to have your e-mails opened by those who are receiving them. Many e-mail marketers do so by using very creative subject lines. While this can work very effectively, caution should be taken that you do not annoy your readers by tricking them into opening a message. If you provide them with good content on a consistent basis, they will want to open your message when it gets there regardless of the subject line.

How to Properly View Your E-Mail List

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

One of the most profitable things that you can do on the Internet is to operate your own e-mail list that is interested in your particular niche. Building this list can be done in any number of different ways and sometimes, if the niche is large enough, you can end up with a large list in a relatively short period of time. How you choose to use that list, however, will determine the amount of money that you’re actually able to make by owning it. If you view your list in the proper light, you will find that you are able to reap the largest reward from your subscribers.

An e-mail list is more than just a group of e-mail addresses that you have permission to contact, each of those e-mail addresses represents an individual person with their own identity. Far too many marketers think of their e-mail list as just being a group of people who are interested in hearing about something. While this may be the case, they still like to feel as if they have their own sense of individuality, even if they are part of a large group. While it may be impossible for you to get to know each of your subscribers on personal basis, what you can do is to contact them in such a way that it allows them to feel a closer relationship with you in some way or another. This can be done in several different ways.

First of all, the more information that you have about the people on your list, the better off you will be as far as your being able to personalize your e-mails. Most e-mail software and auto responder programs have built-in capabilities that allow you to insert personalized information into the e-mail by using a placeholder that matches their system. You will get a much better response if you use the individual’s name both in the subject line and in the opening line of the e-mail. Which would you feel better about getting, an e-mail that said dear subscriber or one that had your name as though it were made out personally to you?

You can also involve your e-mail list in a variety of different projects. Even if you have an e-mail list on a very specific niche, many of them may enjoy participating in some kind of a fun activity. For example, if you had an Internet marketing list and on occasion asked them to take part in some type of a contest, such as helping you to name your new puppy, how much more of a part of your group do you think that they would feel? There’s no doubt that by including them and allowing them to have a voice in return, you are establishing a relationship with them that will benefit you in many different ways. Not only will you be able to market to them from time to time, they will be looking forward to the next contact that they receive.

How to Build a Responsive List

Monday, April 14th, 2008

E-mail marketing has a lot more to do than simply e-mailing people information that they would like to know.  It also has a lot to do with the relationship that you hold with those individuals on a personal level.  Many people with a very large list are able to make their subscribers feel as if they are the only one that they are e-mailing on a consistent basis.  While there is somewhat of an art form that is involved in e-mailing someone in such a way, it really has to do a lot with the way in which they are contacted.  If you really want to have a responsive list, you’re going to have to take care of them from day one.

Many marketers make the mistake of contacting their list with a marketing message too early in the game.  While this is fine if you’re only after a quick profit, your lists can really be a source of ongoing profit for many years as long as you don’t alienate them somewhere along the way.  One of the easiest ways to alienate a person is to try to sell them something before you establish a relationship with them.  By taking a little bit of time to contact them with some solid information, you’re helping to build a relationship that will send them running for their credit card whenever you do finally decide to market to them in some way or another.

One of the best ways to establish this relationship is actually by using automated means.  Once they get on your e-mail list, you can put them into a short autoresponder series that contains your very best information that you have available.  In this way, you don’t have to worry about trying to dazzle each individual every time somebody joins up on your list.  If you have these messages in the forefront through an autoresponder series, it will be something that you do not even need to think about.  Once they sign up for your list, they are sent these messages, a relationship is established and then you can go about your business of marketing to your list effectively.

Another way that you can build responsiveness in your list is by having them take part in some kind of feedback.  This also can be done in a lot of different ways but one of the most popular is by posting your messages on your blog and allowing your subscribers to comment on the message.  Not only does this help to make your list more responsive and make you more personal to them, it also gives you a lot of invaluable feedback from people who are interested in what you have to say.  You can then use this feedback in order to come up with subjects for future newsletters and even as a way to problem solve and to come up with new products for them to purchase.  Just remember, a small responsive list is much better than a large unresponsive list.  Take care of your subscribers and they will take care of you for a very long time to come.

Using JV Giveaway Events to Build Your List

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

One of the more popular ways of building your list nowadays has to do with giving something away for free.  There are many different ways in which you could do this, most of which involve enticing your website visitors to sign up for your list in the hopes of downloading some interesting information.  Of course that information resides just on the other side of your Web form.  For some, this works quite well but for others, they may have a difficulty compiling a large list because of a lack of traffic.  That is where the JV giveaway event comes in handy.  You can piggyback on the traffic that is generated by other marketers in order to build your list in a short period of time.

The concept behind the JV giveaway is actually fairly simple to understand.  A group of marketers, all with a common theme band together in order to send traffic to one particular website where free offers will be listed.  The more traffic that you send to this particular website, the higher you will be ranked on that website.  For those that grab the top position, they can receive a massive amount of traffic to their website that will gladly offer their e-mail address in return for the free information that they have available.  What about those at the bottom of the list?

Even if you are just starting out in your Internet marketing efforts, it will be possible for you to send traffic to this site in one form or another.  How can you accomplish this?  There are several different marketing methods that you can use in order to drive traffic to a website relatively quickly.  These methods include such things as video marketing, article marketing and viral marketing.  You may also be able to use services like Squidoo or a blogger blog to get ranked quickly for some long tail keyword phrases to drive traffic to this website.  The harder you work, the higher you will be ranked and the more benefit you will see from the traffic that the JV giveaway event receives.

Even if you are starting out and unable to send much traffic at all to these websites, more than likely you will be able to receive some traffic from them.  Many of these JV giveaway events feature a random selection from all of the JV partners that will be listed on the main page of the website.  You will also have some individuals that will browse the entire way through the event in order to look for an offer that is interesting to them.  If you make your offer compelling enough, you would be surprised with the amount of traffic that you can receive from one of these events, even if you are at the bottom of the heap. All in all, this is a great way to add subscribers to your list in a hurry, and to give your business a quick boost.
