Off Page Search Engine Optimization Techniques

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Of all of the traffic that you can get your website, some of the best visitors will come as a direct result of your website being listed in the search engines.  Not only is this traffic very targeted, since they are looking for something specific, it is also free, which makes it all the more valuable.  In an effort to gain this free search engine traffic, many individuals have begun employing various search engine optimization techniques to help their websites to rank better.  These techniques come in two basic forms, on page and off page optimization.  Although on page optimization is important for you to understand, it is the off page optimization that will really propel your website to the top of the list.

Although there are many different things that you can do in order to improve your search engine rankings, the most popular and most effective is through obtaining inbound links to your website.  These links can take on a variety of different forms and they can come from a number of different areas but some of them are much more effective than others.  Let’s start at the bottom of the list of links that you can obtain and work our way up to the most effective.

Several years ago, it was very common for individuals to exchange links to their websites.  This was a process that is known as reciprocal linking and it helped many people to be able to gain SEO ground within the various search engines.  Unfortunately, this pattern of linking was also very easy to exploit and many websites overdid the process until it became almost the useless.  Today, the search engines put very little value on a reciprocal link but that doesn’t mean that it has no value whatsoever.  It should still hold a position in your SEO efforts, just make sure you don’t focus entirely on this type of link.

Another type of link is a one-way link that comes from efforts that you make to get listed on a variety of different websites.  These can include directory links, links from articles that you have written and links in forum posts that you have made.  One of the most popular of these is article marketing where you write articles on topic, post them to the various article directories around the Internet and include a link back to your website.  This can help you to gain some ground in the search engines if it is done properly and persistently.

The holy grail of links, however, is a one-way link from a well-established, on topic website.  Unfortunately, these are very difficult to obtain as many of these websites will not link out to other sites.  If you make your content compelling enough, however, you may get some natural links from these websites.  You can also offer to write original content for their website in exchange for a link.  What ever it takes to get your link on their site, it is well worth the effort as this will help to propel you to the top.

How to Promote Your Viral E-Books

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

E-books have become a household word, a new way for us to gain information and an excellent resource that we, as Internet marketers can use to drive traffic to your website.  Viral E-books do not have to be all about information for sale, they can also add a viral element to our website which will drive massive amounts of traffic in our direction.  The first step is coming up with a viral e-book idea which will be of benefit to your particular audience.  Once you have this in place, however, it’s all a matter of finding the right way to promote the e-book in order to start the viral effect.  Here are three different ways to promote your e-book to your target audience.

Forum Marketing - One of the easiest ways to gain targeted traffic is by promoting it through the use of an online forum.  There are thousands of forms out there on just as many subjects and if you find one that fits in well with what you have to offer, you can literally have a gold mine of potential visitors.  Does that mean, however, that you can simply enter into the forum and begin blasting out your message to everyone that is reading?  Of course not, and by doing this you will not only be losing your reputation, you will be losing your place on the forum in a very big hurry.  What you need to do is to add good information to the forum and to leave a link to your free viral e-book in your signature.  You would be surprised with the number of people who will actually follow through that link in order to see what you have to offer.

JV Giveaways - A relative newcomer to the scene are the JV giveaway websites that have been popping up around the Internet lately.  This is also a great way to start a viral marketing e-book campaign.  Many people use these giveaways in order to get subscribers to their list but it is also possible for you to give your e-book away for free, without the need for people to sign up for a list.  This is an excellent way for you to start a stampede of traffic to your website that will download your e-book because that is exactly what they want to do.  If you did your job of providing them with good information in the e-book, they will reward you by passing it on to their friends.

Other Viral Methods - Don’t overlook the possibility of using other viral marketing methods in order to promote your viral e-book.  Things such as online videos and controversial blog posts are a great way for you to get the ball rolling, so to speak, when it comes to your viral marketing campaign.  If you do a good job with these other viral techniques, you can actually compound the amount of traffic that you will eventually receive from the e-book itself.

2 Viral Marketing Techniques Exposed

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

There are always going to be various ways that you can market your website or product on the Internet.  Some of these methods may come and go and others are really founded on principles that have existed in the off-line world for many years.  From time to time, however, there is a type of marketing that is innovative and can be used in order to drive hundreds if not thousands of people to your website in a very short period of time.  The key to this is to strike while the iron is hot and to use these marketing methods while they still have a lot of punch behind them.

Viral marketing is one of those innovative marketing techniques that has the ability to push a new website into the limelight or to breathe life into a website that has existed for quite some time.  There are several different ways in which you can do this viral marketing from free e-books to online videos.  Let’s take a look at a few of these viral marketing techniques and see if we can find one that will fit in with your particular niche online.

The free e-book has been around for quite some time and has been successfully used to launch million-dollar businesses and to pull multitudes of people onto various websites.  The whole point about using a free e-book for this purpose, however, is that it does have some kind of a viral quality.  Some of the best ways for you to include a viral quality in the e-book are to use controversy, humor or to include something unique that is of interest to a particular group of people.  If you can capture your readers attention, they will be very quick to pass on the e-book to their friends and colleagues and could start an avalanche of traffic coming to your website.

Another form of viral marketing is the online video.  There are plenty of websites out there where you can post videos and receive a ton of traffic in a relatively short period of time.  For example, you can post a video on youtube.com and once it is uploaded, you can be receiving visitors to that video fairly quickly.  If you make the video interesting enough to your particular niche, they will pass on the URL to their friends so that they can watch the video as well.  You will also get plenty of search engine traffic if you optimize the page for particular keywords.

The use of viral marketing is nothing new but the Internet makes it so much easier to successfully enter into a viral marketing campaign.  If you do it right, you will be overwhelmed with the amount of traffic that you can actually receive from just one of these methods.  If you try and fail at viral marketing, the best thing that you can do is to continue to try until you come onto a winning combination.  The traffic that you get from one viral marketing campaign will be worth all of the effort.

Giveaway Manager 2 Launches

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

We have just opened the doors at the Giveaway Manager 2 site. The software that ran the most successful giveaway events this year was now made available to the public.

What is a Giveaway?

A JV giveaway is basically just a group of like-minded individuals who all have something free that they have created to offer in exchange for an e-mail address.  Each of these individuals will send traffic to this particular giveaway website using an encoded link that will help them to rank on that page. Everybody gets more signups for their opt-in lists and sales are generated as well.

But the person who profits the most is the Giveaway Owner, the person who runs the software and manages everything. This person gets every single subscriber that signs up plus 50% or more of the income from sales.

We’ve added over 11,000 new subscribers to our list by running one Giveaway Event with the Giveaway Manager 2 software… in just 6 days!

In these 6 days we got more than $13.000 in sales… and you can now do the exact same thing… it’s easy with the new Giveaway Manager 2 software!

How to Build a Responsive List

Monday, April 14th, 2008

E-mail marketing has a lot more to do than simply e-mailing people information that they would like to know.  It also has a lot to do with the relationship that you hold with those individuals on a personal level.  Many people with a very large list are able to make their subscribers feel as if they are the only one that they are e-mailing on a consistent basis.  While there is somewhat of an art form that is involved in e-mailing someone in such a way, it really has to do a lot with the way in which they are contacted.  If you really want to have a responsive list, you’re going to have to take care of them from day one.

Many marketers make the mistake of contacting their list with a marketing message too early in the game.  While this is fine if you’re only after a quick profit, your lists can really be a source of ongoing profit for many years as long as you don’t alienate them somewhere along the way.  One of the easiest ways to alienate a person is to try to sell them something before you establish a relationship with them.  By taking a little bit of time to contact them with some solid information, you’re helping to build a relationship that will send them running for their credit card whenever you do finally decide to market to them in some way or another.

One of the best ways to establish this relationship is actually by using automated means.  Once they get on your e-mail list, you can put them into a short autoresponder series that contains your very best information that you have available.  In this way, you don’t have to worry about trying to dazzle each individual every time somebody joins up on your list.  If you have these messages in the forefront through an autoresponder series, it will be something that you do not even need to think about.  Once they sign up for your list, they are sent these messages, a relationship is established and then you can go about your business of marketing to your list effectively.

Another way that you can build responsiveness in your list is by having them take part in some kind of feedback.  This also can be done in a lot of different ways but one of the most popular is by posting your messages on your blog and allowing your subscribers to comment on the message.  Not only does this help to make your list more responsive and make you more personal to them, it also gives you a lot of invaluable feedback from people who are interested in what you have to say.  You can then use this feedback in order to come up with subjects for future newsletters and even as a way to problem solve and to come up with new products for them to purchase.  Just remember, a small responsive list is much better than a large unresponsive list.  Take care of your subscribers and they will take care of you for a very long time to come.

Using JV Giveaway Events to Build Your List

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

One of the more popular ways of building your list nowadays has to do with giving something away for free.  There are many different ways in which you could do this, most of which involve enticing your website visitors to sign up for your list in the hopes of downloading some interesting information.  Of course that information resides just on the other side of your Web form.  For some, this works quite well but for others, they may have a difficulty compiling a large list because of a lack of traffic.  That is where the JV giveaway event comes in handy.  You can piggyback on the traffic that is generated by other marketers in order to build your list in a short period of time.

The concept behind the JV giveaway is actually fairly simple to understand.  A group of marketers, all with a common theme band together in order to send traffic to one particular website where free offers will be listed.  The more traffic that you send to this particular website, the higher you will be ranked on that website.  For those that grab the top position, they can receive a massive amount of traffic to their website that will gladly offer their e-mail address in return for the free information that they have available.  What about those at the bottom of the list?

Even if you are just starting out in your Internet marketing efforts, it will be possible for you to send traffic to this site in one form or another.  How can you accomplish this?  There are several different marketing methods that you can use in order to drive traffic to a website relatively quickly.  These methods include such things as video marketing, article marketing and viral marketing.  You may also be able to use services like Squidoo or a blogger blog to get ranked quickly for some long tail keyword phrases to drive traffic to this website.  The harder you work, the higher you will be ranked and the more benefit you will see from the traffic that the JV giveaway event receives.

Even if you are starting out and unable to send much traffic at all to these websites, more than likely you will be able to receive some traffic from them.  Many of these JV giveaway events feature a random selection from all of the JV partners that will be listed on the main page of the website.  You will also have some individuals that will browse the entire way through the event in order to look for an offer that is interesting to them.  If you make your offer compelling enough, you would be surprised with the amount of traffic that you can receive from one of these events, even if you are at the bottom of the heap. All in all, this is a great way to add subscribers to your list in a hurry, and to give your business a quick boost.

All Pay per Click Marketing Is Not Created Equal

Friday, April 11th, 2008

One mistake that most people tend to make at some point in their Internet marketing career is lumping all forms of advertising into one particular mold.  This is often done in the case of pay per click marketing.  People are aware that absolute fortunes are being made through the Google Adwords system, so they naturally think that any pay per click marketing system will work wonders for their business.  Is this the case?  Let’s take a look at a few of the pay per click marketing systems that are available online and see which ones will do the most for your business.

Of course, the king of all pay per click marketing systems is run by Google.  It is their Adwords system that drives the entire process.  Once you choose your relevant keywords and ads that go into the system, they will almost immediately be displayed alongside the search engine result pages.  Not only that, you also have the choice of whether to display them on millions of websites around the world through the Google Adsense system.  This can get your website a lot of exposure and traffic in a short period of time.  If used correctly, it can make your business an almost immediate success.

The second on the list of pay per click marketing systems is Yahoo search marketing or YSM for short.  This is also advertising that is available through a very reputable source and you can receive a decent amount of traffic by using this system as well.  YSM tends to be a little bit more difficult to understand than the AdWords system but once you get the hang of it, it is easy to add keywords or change your ads and manage your entire campaign online.  Even though they don’t send as much traffic as Google, you still get some very qualified clicks by using this program.

A newcomer on to the pay per click marketing scene is MSN.  Their system still has, in my opinion, some bugs that need to be worked out in order for it to be truly user-friendly.  It still is not a system, however, that should be overlooked if you are serious about your pay per click marketing efforts.  Although MSN receives a small share of searchers in comparison with Google and Yahoo, they do tend to be those that purchase more readily.  If you have the time to learn it, the system can send you some qualified traffic on a consistent basis.

Finally, we have all of the other pay per click marketing systems that are available. Many of the systems will not send you much traffic, if any at all and many of them are riddled with click fraud problems.  There are a few in there, however, that can send you the traffic that you need but these take a distant backseat to the big three.  If you have the time for it and the budget, they are worth doing some experimenting.
