Illegal Giveaway Event Warning

May 14th, 2008

Unfortunately we are currently dealing with a hacker and scammer inside the internet marketing scene. This guy is best known as Daniel Armstrong and he has stolen 2 of our scripts including the Giveaway Manager 2. Now he runs an illegal giveaway event with that at: http://jokeboxgiveaway.com/contributor.php

What’s going on?

Let’s begin with the explaination on what this person gave us after asking him about the unusual activity that we have spotted in our system.

Mr Daniel Armstrong receives an email from Michel Gerrard [giveawaypromoter@googlemail.com] telling him that he can get the Giveaway Manager 2 and the Giveaway Announcer Pro at a special discount. Mr. Gerrard sends Mr. Armstrong an email with an attached HTML file that holds 4 paypal buttons. The first button is an encrypted button for $97 that goes to givewaypromoter@googlemail as the paypal seller. The other 3 buttons are work-arounds with 5 cent payments (or similar low) that go to my (or my partners) email account (redirecting to the download page).

So Mr. Armstrong takes this special deal and pays the required amount through each of the 4 buttons. The payments show up in our database from the persons pasted below.

Richard Hulston info@ebooksgalore-hosting.co.uk

Denise Bayliss dtbayliss@hotmail.co.uk

The member in our database who gets these upsales has registered as pasted below.

Nutty Keith nuttykeith@googlemail.com

So as you can see, Mr. Armstrong must have used 2 different paypal accounts to make the payments. He has also signed up with a different name and email address at our website.

We have done some more research about the domains he owns and the names he has used to register these domains. We have sent him an email to explain where these weired payments come from and he replied with the above story. The email he replied from comes as pasted below.

From: Keith Burton [mailto:nuttykeith@googlemail.com]

Hmmm… thought his name was Daniel Armstrong or Nutty Keith… now I’m confused….

So we have Keith Burton who replies to a question that we have asked Mr. Armstrong about why he has signed up as Nutty Keith and payed for a $297 product with 5 cents only using 2 different email addresses with the names Richard Hulston and Denise Bayliss.

OK, we see there is something going on with this person. Yes, we are talking about one person here!

As I said, we have done some research and found a stolen copy of my Giveaway Announcer hosted at http://www.giveaways.jv-marketing.co.uk/

That’s a sub-domain of http://jv-marketing.co.uk/homepage.php
which is a Giveaway Event where many internet marketers have signed up. Means this person has your details including your passwords!

This person seems to be a very active “internet marketer”. He runs all kinds of scripts on his domain… all half setup… Did he pay for these???

http://www.dotcomallsorts.info
http://www.5dollarsecrets.net/
http://www.ebooksgalore.co.uk/
http://jv-marketing.co.uk/homepage.php
http://www.firesalemainia.co.uk/
http://www.sarahs-gifts.co.uk/
http://www.giveaways.jv-marketing.co.uk/
http://ebooksgalore-hosting.co.uk
http://www.jvmuk.co.uk

This person is also the owner of many names and addresses that he uses to register the domains for example:

Marie Ashwell
JV Marketing
Ebooksgalore
Daniel Armstrong
Shonda Armstrong
Rick Armstrong
Anthony Debney
Jason Debney
Keith Burton
Oscar Walters
John Walters
Jamie Walters

This person is of course not able to explain these things…

Now he runs our software illegally on http://jokeboxgiveaway.com/contributor.php

You can research all this with WhoIs lookups and draw your own conclusion. I’m sorry that I have to bother you with this stuff but I don’t want you to signup at his sites and have your name associated with a hacker.

Getting Listed in Google Fast

May 13th, 2008

Anybody that has been Internet marketing for any time realizes that being listed in Google is a way to get some serious traffic to your website. As a matter of fact, it is estimated that Google may drive up to 50% of the traffic that searches on the Internet. The other 50% is spread among some of the other search engines, such as Yahoo or MSN. While it may help your business to be listed in the smaller search engines, having a good listing in Google can give you a fantastic boost. The problem can be getting listed in Google quickly, especially if your website is brand-new. If you seem to be sputtering as far as your ranking is concerned, here are some ways to get listed in Google fast and move up through the rankings with ease.

Don’t let anybody tell you any different, getting listed in Google is very easy to do. The only thing that you really need is a website and a few incoming links. As long as your website is navigable by the search engine, the incoming links will point the search engine bot to it. You can get these links from any number of places but the easiest ways to do it are through article marketing or submitting RSS feeds. Here is a little bit about each of those methods.

Article marketing is simply writing articles that have to do a little bit with what your website is about. You would post these on various article websites throughout the Internet and leave a link that points back to your website in the bio box. There really isn’t much more to it than that. Some of these article sites that add content on a regular basis are spidered on a regular basis as well. Whenever the search engine spiders see a new outgoing link, they will follow it and began taking in your site.

If you want an extremely easy way to get your website listed quickly, try submitting an RSS feed. You can do this by building a site map that is in the RSS format. There are plenty of free websites which will spider your pages and build this site map for you. All you need to do after that is to upload it to your server and then paying it through one of the free painting services. You will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly the search engine spiders begin to come take a look.

Of course, it may take a little while before your pages are actually indexed in Google but they will be looked at very quickly by using these methods. I’ve had pages that were listed within a day and other pages which took a week or more before they finally showed up. As long as you have a little bit of patience, however, you will see results from your efforts. Before long, your site will be listed and moving up through the rankings on its way to the top.

Search Engine Optimization for Quick Results

May 11th, 2008

A Web business will live or die according to the number of people who visit their sites.  Just as a store cannot stay in business if it does not have clients coming through its doors, someone that is involved in Internet marketing is also similarly out of luck if they fall into the same situation.  That is why it is important to make sure that you have plenty of traffic coming to your website on regular basis.  One of the best ways to do this which also happens to be free is through search engine optimization.

Many people consider search engine optimization or SEO to be something that is very difficult to do.  To be sure, it is not something that somebody can just pick up overnight but there are some basic things that can be done that make a difference in your rankings in the search engine.  As long as you keep taking care of the basics, you can simply expound on them in order to help your rankings with the search engines.  The most important thing is that you do not try to cut any corners or to make it too difficult for you to do.  Make a schedule and stick to it and you will be happy with the results.

At the very core of any SEO efforts are incoming links.  Yes, making sure that your pages themselves are optimized for particular keywords is also important but you can rank for keywords that are not even on your webpage if you position your incoming links properly.  Acquiring these links, however, can be something that is relatively difficult to do.  That is, of course, unless you know a few shortcuts that you can take.

You can spend all the time that you want trying to get incoming links from authority websites in your particular niche.  Unfortunately, they simply do not come easy and it may actually come at a very high price.  You can get links to your website that will matter a lot as far as your search engine positioning is concerned through other means.  Submitting unique articles to the article directories and including a link back to your website is one of these ways.  You can also offer to write a unique article for one of the authority sites in exchange for a link back to your own.

One easy way to get incoming links to your website that will propel you toward the top of the search engine results is to use Web 2.0 websites.  This includes everything from social bookmarking to building pages and blogs on websites such as blogger or Squidoo.  Build as many of these as you can and interlink them in such a way that it creates a natural looking linking pattern and then link back to your website from some of the more popular pages.  You would be surprised at how quickly this will increase your search engine rankings.

Reciprocal Linking - Is it Worth the Effort?

May 9th, 2008

Having incoming links to your website is the single most powerful way to gain recognition in the eyes of the search engines, Google, Yahoo and MSN.  The types of links that you have pointing at your website, however, will make a large difference in the type of attention and recognition that you get from the search engines.  Things that worked a few years ago are not necessarily the things that work well now.  In order to stay on top of the search engine result pages, you need to stay on top of what the search engines require.

Several years ago, it was a fairly easy thing to get to the top of the search engine result pages, or SERPS by launching a massive reciprocal linking campaign.  You simply sent out massive amounts of e-mail to webmasters offering a link to their website in exchange for a link back to your own.  As a matter of fact, it really didn’t even matter what kind of website you were acquiring the links from, as long as the link pointed towards you.  Google was counting all of these links as being beneficial and pointing to the fact that your website was an authority on your particular subject.

Once the word was out, so to speak, some people over used this method to the point where Google eventually stopped counting reciprocal links as being all important as far as ranking your website.  As a matter of fact, too much reciprocal linking may have even been an indicator that your website was participating in something that they disagree with.  Overnight, people lost their position in the SERPS as a result of this change in the Google algorithm.  Does that mean, however, that all reciprocal linking is bad?

Reciprocal linking can still be a very important part of your search engine optimization plan.  What you don’t want to do, however, is to rely entirely on this form of linking.  Google loves links and they probably always will but you need to start developing campaigns that will result in one way links into your website from authority websites within your same niche.  Links from off-topic websites and reciprocal linking will still continue to give you some weight but the all powerful one way link is what will launch your website to the top of the results.

Even though reciprocal linking may be close to dying, it is still an easy way to gain a little bit of recognition.  There are still plenty of scripts out there which make reciprocal linking an automated process and if used properly, can make a difference in your rankings.  As of right now, Yahoo and MSN still give credit to these reciprocal links and Google still credits them to a certain extent.  Until they are totally dead, it will always be a good idea to include them in your marketing efforts as they may make the difference between you being number two on the listings or number one.

How to Properly View Your E-Mail List

May 7th, 2008

One of the most profitable things that you can do on the Internet is to operate your own e-mail list that is interested in your particular niche. Building this list can be done in any number of different ways and sometimes, if the niche is large enough, you can end up with a large list in a relatively short period of time. How you choose to use that list, however, will determine the amount of money that you’re actually able to make by owning it. If you view your list in the proper light, you will find that you are able to reap the largest reward from your subscribers.

An e-mail list is more than just a group of e-mail addresses that you have permission to contact, each of those e-mail addresses represents an individual person with their own identity. Far too many marketers think of their e-mail list as just being a group of people who are interested in hearing about something. While this may be the case, they still like to feel as if they have their own sense of individuality, even if they are part of a large group. While it may be impossible for you to get to know each of your subscribers on personal basis, what you can do is to contact them in such a way that it allows them to feel a closer relationship with you in some way or another. This can be done in several different ways.

First of all, the more information that you have about the people on your list, the better off you will be as far as your being able to personalize your e-mails. Most e-mail software and auto responder programs have built-in capabilities that allow you to insert personalized information into the e-mail by using a placeholder that matches their system. You will get a much better response if you use the individual’s name both in the subject line and in the opening line of the e-mail. Which would you feel better about getting, an e-mail that said dear subscriber or one that had your name as though it were made out personally to you?

You can also involve your e-mail list in a variety of different projects. Even if you have an e-mail list on a very specific niche, many of them may enjoy participating in some kind of a fun activity. For example, if you had an Internet marketing list and on occasion asked them to take part in some type of a contest, such as helping you to name your new puppy, how much more of a part of your group do you think that they would feel? There’s no doubt that by including them and allowing them to have a voice in return, you are establishing a relationship with them that will benefit you in many different ways. Not only will you be able to market to them from time to time, they will be looking forward to the next contact that they receive.

Enjoy!

1. Be active in Forums and use a Forum Signature including a link to your Blog.

Don’t try to spam forums just to get a link to your blog… you need to contribute great content and help others in the forum, then they will regard you as an expert and visit your Blog more likely.

Search on google for the biggest Blog Directories and submit your blog there manually. Aim to get listed in at least 10 good directories.

20 Essential Blog Directories

You can use automated or semi-automated software to do this or you can do it manually just like you did with the Blog Directories.

RSS Directories

4. Claim your Blog at Technorati.

Get an account at Technorati and claim your blog there. Tehcnorati is a must use for every serious blogger.

5. Cross Link with other Blog Owners.

Your blog has a Blogroll… so you can exchange links with other bloggers in your niche on your blogroll.

6. Bookmark your Blog posts.

Go to SocialPoster and bookmark your best blog posts.

7. Distribute articles including the “About the Author” part with a link to your Blog.

You can use the ISnare article distribution service to get your article listed in hundreds of article directories. They also submit your article to many newsletter publishers. This strategy alone can create a huge viral constant flow of traffic to your blog.

8. Create an account at MyBlogLog and use their Widget on your blog.

MyBlogLog is a social community. You can get a constant flow of traffic through them by making friends with other bloggers and building your community.

9. Post useful Comments on other Blogs.

Don’t leave short comments like “hey I like your post”… rather write long comments and start a discussion… Blogs are made for people to interact.

10. Use Ping Services

Wordpress automatically pings when you make a new post but you can improve this automated Ping service by using the MBP-Ping-Optimzer and an improved list of ping services.

11. TrackBack other Blogs.

Link to other Blogs in your posts and send them a trackback. Before you do so make sure that their blog accepts trackbacks. Sometimes you can do a PingBack instead of a TrackBack.

12. Notify your opt-in list subscribers about your latest blog posts.

Of course you should have an opt-in list on your blog to catch the name and email address from your readers. Make sure you send them a message when you have new content on your blog. The best visitors are returning visitors!

13. Have a Signature with a link to your Blog in every email you send out with any email program.

That’s something many people don’t do… they miss out on a lot of traffic. Even if you answer just a support question or communicate with your friends, always have your Blog URL at the end of the emails (better would be your contact information plus all your main blogs and websites urls)

14. Create and distribute viral ebooks that include a link to your Blog.

You can write 20 pages short reports or ebooks and make them viral by letting other people give it away for free. Include your blog url throughout these viral reports and you’ll soon get tons of viral traffic.

15. Build a Squidoo Lense and put a link to your Blog on that.

Squidoo pages are great to get 1-way links to your blog. Google loves Squidoo Pages and often you are ranked within the Top 10 for long-tail keywords. That means you’ll get direct traffic to your Squidoo lense and a part of that traffic will follow the links to your Blog.

16. Build a Hub Page and put a link to your Blog on that.

Same here as the Squidoo Lenses.

17. Create and distribute a video, include a link to your Blog in this video.

People love to watch videos and they love to share videos. If you are good, then your video might go viral and you’ll get lots of visitors to your blog. You should have a short URL that people can remember and type into their browser bar.

18. Create an account at social pages like MySpace or Facebook - put a link to your Blog into your Profile.

I guess you know what social marketing is… send some of that traffic to your Blog to build up a loyal readership.

19. Signup for EntreCard and add their widget to your Blog.

Entrecard can be a huge source of traffic but you need to invest about 10 minutes each day to be active and drop some cards.

20. Register your Blog at BlogCatalog and put their widget on your Blog.

Your blog simply must be in the Blog Catalog. You can get a nice flow of traffic from them after a while.

21. Signup for BlogRush and put their widget on your Blog.

Blogrush is a no-brainer… I just wonder why there are not more services out there like this.

22. Submit a XML sitemap of your Blog to Google Webmasters

You don’t need to do that, but if you know that some of your pages are not spidered yet, then this will get them indexed pretty soon.

23. Provide good content on your Blog.

Duh!

24. Be the first one who publishes a newsworthy story.

O.K., it’s hard to be the very first one who publishes a big story… but there are smaller newsworthy stories, maybe even local stories depending on your niche.

25. Publish content on a regular basis.

Come on, one post per week is not much… better would be to post on a daily basis if you can do it.

26. Install the most important WordPress Plugins.

List of Plug Ins

27. Invite known experts in your niche to be Guest Writers for your Blog.

Start with “small” experts and then move up to the bigger ones. Many bloggers would love to get some extra exposure on your blog… once you have some visitors.

28. Be a Guest Writer on other Blogs.

If you have good content, then this is the best way to introduce yourself to your niche. Let people know you exist by being a guest writer on other people’s blog.

29. Include links to useful ressources in your blog posts.

I’ve just recently started to do this… I was always greedy on giving away free links… but you’ll see that it’s well worth it. Especially if you link to smaller blogs, then the owner will notice that and many will do a favour back.

30. Don’t have your Blog full of advertising.

Come on, you won’t make any real money from your blog before you don’t have 100+ visitors each day… so you can as well make your blog ad-free until you have that many visitors.

31. Start a Running Post, for example an experiment that lasts a week or a month.

This can bound many readers to your blog. Finish each post with a Big Question or a little pre-view on what’s coming next… that will leave them eager to read more and they will come back once you make the next post.

32. Publish your contact information on your Blog and your Picture.

Go public, don’t hide! People love to know who you are and what you do. A picture helps people to remember you… it’s called Branding!

33. Create an interactive Blog

Make sure people can comment on your blog, make sure they can subscribe to your RSS Feed, make sure they can leave trackbacks etc.

34. Write about stuff that is currently a Hot Topic in your niche.

You can use Google Alerts or other news sources to find the Hot Topics in your niche. Then enter the discussion with some controversity.

35. Research keywords and use long-tail keywords in the title and the first sentence of your posts.

Don’t try to rank in google for the term “internet marketing”… rather try to rank for “internet marketing explained for newbies” or some other long-tail keywords. Use Wordtracker to find keywords that have less than 100.000 competitors. Then use the keyword in your title and in the first sentence of your post.

36. Customize your Blog with a unique Header and Footer Image. Don’t use the Standard Layouts.

Here is a simple example… look at the header image of this blog… Will you remember it? Of course you will, at least better than most other headers… it’s unique and you don’t see a header like this anywhere… that’s again Brading!

37. Categorize your Blog correctly, make it easy for your readers to find the content they are looking for.

A good categorized blog looks professional and helps peole to find what they are looking for.

38. Use Credit Based Safelists

I know… some people will laugh about using safelists… but I’ve my tracking in place and I know the numbers… Credit Based safelists work, don’t let anybody tell you different!

39. Answer all questions that your readers send by email or leave as a comment.

Have a question? Post a comment and I’ll be happy to answer it… Don’t you like that?

40. Have your Blog URL on your Business Cards (off-line traffic)

Not really possible for everybody… but make sure you have business cards with your blog url on them when you go to internet marketing events or places where business people hang out.

41. Answer questions at Yahoo Answers

Yahoo Answers is a great place to establish yourself as an expert in your niche. That will have a branding effect.

42. Be Controversial

Be different, be unique, stand out of the crowd!

43. Install a Bookmarking Widget below each post so that your readers can easily bookmark your post.

See mine? If you like this list, go ahead and bookmark it!

44. Create a Link Bait

What’s a link bait you ask? Well, it’s what I’m doing or trying to do right here. I’ve invested about 3 hours into writing this post, I’ve done research, I’ve done the work… People appreciate that and naturally link to posts like this one. That’s called a Link Bait. Your content must be so good that people just want to tell others about it.

I hope you enjoy this list!
